Here are some suggestions for your stay:
There are an incredible number of over 50 churches in Salzburg!
This means that for the size of the city, there are as many churches per capita as in Rome.
The reason for this is that Salzburg has only been part of Austria since 1816.
Before that, it was an independent Catholic principality for many centuries, ruled by a prince-archbishop.
This prince-archbishop was simultaneously the secular ruler of the country in his function as prince and the religious leader of the country in his function as archbishop.
But you will definitely find out a lot more about it during your stay.
The most important churches in the city are:
1.) The Salzburg Cathedral:
You can see the cathedral directly when you look out the apartment window!
It's just a few steps away!

2.) The Stiftskirche St. Peter:
It is also only about 3 minutes away from the apartment!

3.) The Franciscan Church:
Also only 3 minutes away from the apartment!

4) The Hohensalzburg Fortress (castle):
I definitely recommend a guided tour of the fortress. It is one of Salzburg's most important landmarks and you can immerse yourself in the Middle Ages.
The apartment is also located in a house from the Middle Ages, which is particularly evident from the stone columns in the staircase!
Salzburg is called Salz-Burg for a reason (Salz = Salt - Burg = Castle) 😊!

You can reach the fortress from the apartment either on foot (only if you want to be sporty) in 15 minutes or with the funicular whose valley station is 4 minutes away from the apartment.

5) Mirabell Palace:
The palace park, Mirabell Gardens, was a filming location for the legendary movie “The Sound of Music”!
You can reach it in about 10 minutes.

But most of all, I would recommend you to simply stroll through the beautiful old town of Salzburg, go to a coffee house or have a glass of wine and just enjoy the city!
